At the beginning of summer, I started volunteering at the Colonial Pennsylvania Farmstead. It’s a picturesque place in the middle of Ridley State Park. A 300-year-old farmhouse and several of the outbuildings remain mostly intact and in-situ.

Somewhat oddly everyone seems to have decided that I am in charge of the woodworking tools and all of the woodwork and repair projects that need to be done there. There are several other volunteers who sort of dabble in woodworking, but I seem to have the most experience at it.

the first thing I made was some stool legs. Then I made a cover for a hatchel (or hackle, a spikey flax comb), I made a pan cover for the kitchen, and they need a couple more. And I’ve started to make a new wheelbarrow. They have put me right to work in the deep end.

You might find me there on weekends, I do recommend that everyone come visit this little gem of a living history museum. open to the public on weekends only, partially staffed by volunteers. It’s a nice day out.
